Pastor, Rev. Dr. E.C. Gregory


INTRODUCTION:

Rev. Dr. E. C. Gregory has been called as the Pastor of St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. 

Dr. E.C. Gregory is a noted preacher, Christian educator, and community activist.

Mentored by Pastor Rhim, Dr. Gregory has been an active member of St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church for 31 years. He served as the Minister of Education where he over saw the structure of Christian Education.  He was later promoted to the position of Assistant to the Pastor.

During Pastor Rhim’s sabbatical, the church voted to assign Pastor Rhim the title of Senior Pastor and Dr. Gregory the title of Pastor. During this period, he guided the church, conducted funeral services, counseled members, conducted weddings, and executed other pastoral duties.

PERSONAL:

Married for 32 years to Deirdre, a wonderful Christian woman who has encouraged him through all these years.

He is the father of two brilliant sons, Jonathan and Ryan, of whom he is very proud.

EDUCATIONAL:

A native of North Carolina, he earned a master’s in Biblical and Theological Studies from Luther Rice University.

Also, Dr. Gregory earned a Doctor of Ministry from Luther Rice University and a Doctor of Philosophy from Trinity University in Newburg, Indiana, which was accredited through the University of Liverpool located in Liverpool, England. 

EMPLOYMENT:

Dr. Gregory served as the principal at Temple College Preparatory School located in Jacksonville, Florida for the past 12 years.

He retired from AT&T after 31 years in the Engineering Department.

STATE AND NATIONAL AFFILIATIONS

His Christian service extends beyond the walls of St Joseph Missionary Baptist Church. 

Dr. Gregory is the Director of Christian Education in the congress of the East Florida Bethany Baptist Association.

An active member of the Progressive M & E State Convention and the National Baptist Convention of America Inc., he has conducted sessions on Christian marriages and church administration. 

Dr. Gregory has taught Biblical Studies at the Jacksonville campus of Luther Rice University, which is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. He was later promoted to Director of the Jacksonville Luther Rice extension campus. When Luther Rice decided to close all extension campuses, he was called to open an extension campus for Berean Bible College in Jacksonville where he served as Director and Provost.

An active member of the community, Dr. Gregory serves on several boards. 

He is president of the Mental Health Center of Jacksonville, and vice president of the Mental Health Resource Center as well as a board member of the Renaissance Behavioral Health System. 

He has also served as the president of the North Council Chamber of Commerce in Jacksonville, Florida. 

Dr. Gregory also served on the Minority Business Opportunity Commission (MBOC)  where he was appointed by the Deputy Director of the U.S. Department of Commerce under President Bill Clinton.

Recently, he served as a team member on the Florida League of Christian Schools (FLOCS) and International League of Christian Schools (ILCS) accreditation team.  Serving on these accreditation teams has presented him with vast insight on how Christian private schools are founded and managed.
